The prime time to celebrate America's
love affair with television is at Fantasy Fest this year. The theme for
Key West's annual mask and costuming festival this year is TV JEEBIES.
What are the TV JEEBIES? If you can sing the theme song to Gilligan's Island,
then chances are you've got a case of the TV JEEBIES. If you know who shot
J.R., or if you know the Beverly Hills zip code better than your own, you
definitaly have the TV JEEBIES.
Grab the remote and go channel surfing,
because the 1997 Fantasy Fest theme is TV JEEBIES!
Key West, the country's southernmost
city, annually plays host to national and international mask makers and
costume designers, not to mention the thousands of celebrants who flock
to Fantasy Fest's many uniquely outrageous events. Elaborate costume competitions
are at the heart of Fantasy Fest, however, the ten day schedule is packed
with a spirited array of parties, masked balls and street fairs. The highlight
of the festival is the spectacular Coors Light Fantasy Fest Parade, which
makes its way down historic Duval Street amid 60,000 costumed revelers,
all celebrating 50 years of staying glued to the tube.
Fantasy Fest lives up to it's reputation
for wild creativity through the many impressive theme parties and costume
competitions throughout the week. These days are filled with the mischievous
merrymaking, while the nights are reserved for the truly bizarre.
